What Is PD101?

Professional Development 101, or PD101 for short, is an interactive website sponsored by the Business College Council dedicated to advancing and promoting professional development within the College of Business. In other words, PD101 is here to make sure that our UTEP business students get the most out of their education and are well prepared to enter the professional world upon graduation.

Students: Understandably, professional development does not sound like the most appealing allocation of your time. After all, after sleeping in, watching Fresh Prince re-runs, and putting off your homework (hopefully not), you’re probably a very busy person.

With that said, PD101 is here to show you that professional development can be very engaging and rewarding.

Our “Events Calendar” displays all upcoming events held by the Professional Development Center and the Business College Council. Usually free or dirt-cheap (that’s a technical term), the professional development events are a great way to network with other business students or potential employers, learn more about an area of interest, or grab some free food. From workshops to conferences across the country, the College of Business offers it all; it’s your job to find out. Luckily for you, the PD101 “Events Calendar” makes it very easy for you to find out about all upcoming events, get more information, see promotional fliers or videos, and RSVP via Facebook for the event of your liking.

PD101, along with the business.utep.edu site, will provide you with all the information necessary to stay-up-to date. Check often for our latest blogs, articles, and updates. If you’re a social-media kind of person, PD101 has its own Facebook page, Twitter, Newsletter, YouTube channel, and RSS feed. Don’t be scared to add them all- we won’t bug too much.

Furthermore, PD101 promises to bring you the richest content and opportunities in the College. If you’re looking for interview tips & tricks, or internship and scholarship offers, PD101 promises to work to get the content that matters most to you. Or, for those with initiative, submit your own professional development blog/article and we will post it up for you.

Finally, we did say that PD101 is sponsored by the Business College Council, right? PD101 will be your official spot for all your BCC news, multimedia, and information. Check out the BCC page to learn about the great student organizations here at the College of Business. It is never too late to get involved. Remember: Those who are involved in extracurricular activities in school have a tremendous leg-up on their post-graduate competition. A student organization is the perfect way to self-invest academically, professionally, and socially.
